My Journey Into Film

This year I plan to garner a new level of respect for the MPAA's body of work.  I will watch several new releases, as well classics that have stood the test of time.  My goal is to see as many movies as I can this year, as I develop a new understanding and appreciation for the art of film.  I will be watching AFI's Top 100 Films.  To get a better baseline for film and expanding my interest at the same time.  As each movie is watched a small and grade will placed on this film. Wish me luck.

The Scale to Movie Review

There is a 1-10 scale in three separate categories to which I measure the greatness of a movie.

Story (Script): The objective of any great movie is to tell a great story whether it is over-indulgent satire or an edge your seat drama.  A story has to be created, whether original or adapted.

Action (Direction and Visual Effects): The next objective is designed to bring the words to life.  There director and visual effects have the responsibility of bringing words to life and making them explode on screen by sweeping us into a world of beauty, mayhem and mystery.

Portrayal (Actors):
The final objective to achieve success is the ability of the actor to make you believe in his ability to bring the character from the pages to the screen.

(Example: Marvel The Avengers S-10 A-10 P-10)
